A New Era for MASuite – Your Thoughts Matter!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Greetings, everyone!

For the past eighteen months, I’ve been working tirelessly on MASuite (formerly MA-All-in-One), and I’m thrilled to announce that we are about to witness a massive transformation! From its core programming language to brand-new features, improved sounds, refreshed games, and even upcoming online games, MASuite is evolving like never before. This is why our last update was in July 2024—because we’ve been crafting something truly extraordinary behind the scenes. While I can’t provide an exact release date, I expect the update to be ready by April, May, or June. The wait will be worth it!

The Future of MASuite’s Licensing System

Now, let’s talk about an important topic. MASuite has always been designed as a free-to-use platform, driven by my belief that everyone should have access to great software, regardless of their financial situation. However, due to increasing costs—including server expenses, development resources, and personal financial needs—I was forced to introduce a license-based model starting with version 0.16.

The reality is that free software doesn’t generate income, and despite eight years of making programs and games, I’ve rarely received donations. At the same time, I deeply understand the struggles faced by users who can’t afford paid software due to economic and political issues, just like we often can’t access many paid services ourselves. With currency values fluctuating drastically, it’s unfair to prevent people from using MASuite simply because they can’t afford it.

Finding a Better Alternative

This is where I need your input. While I appreciate every person who supports MASuite financially, I also want to ensure that those who truly can’t pay still get access. My biggest challenge right now is that our server funding will run out in April, and without financial support, the website and online services may go offline.

The Dilemma: Free Access vs. Sustainability

We could say crowdfunding or sponsorships might work, but let’s be real—almost no one actually contributes. I’ve been creating software and games for years, yet receiving voluntary financial support has been almost nonexistent. People love free software, but when it comes to donations, very few step forward.

We could also consider a freemium model, where some features remain free while others require a license, but that risks creating an unfair experience—some users get full access, while others are left behind.

Then there’s regional pricing—allowing users in struggling economies to pay less—but again, most people won’t pay anything unless forced to. And let’s not even get started on advertising or sponsorships, because without a massive audience, it’s almost impossible to generate real revenue this way.

So, What’s the Solution?

This is the dilemma—free access means no sustainability, and paid access means some users are left behind. What’s the real solution here? Let me know your thoughts!
